Well, its been a day of long lectures, discussions, and lots of buffet eating in between. I hate it went I can’t move around as much as I normally do, and on top of that, when I do eat, I feel like I eat bigger meals to hold me over to the next because I’m not snacking as much.
I am trying to make healthy choices and luckily the hotel’s food has been pretty good in that regard. I’ve been eating a lot of chicken, though. Too much! Yuck. I’m still weirdly “vegetarian” in my mindset so too much chicken makes me an unhappy camper. I’ve also been taking my pictures kind of in “secret” away from people because I don’t really know anyone here. So forgive me if they aren’t up to par- I’m not comfortable whipping out my camera in front of strangers/ work colleagues.
At breakfast, there wasn’t really a way for me to take a picture of my plate, but I took a picture of what I ate from the buffet.
Some scrambled eggs:
There was bacon but I opted out. I also had a small cinamon raisin bagel.
And lots of fruit. I was really happy to see this spread!
At lunch, they had a kind of “Mexican bar”. I filled half my plate with salad- lettuce, cukes, tomatoes, and corn (no dressing) and had a small flour tortilla filled with chicken, peppers, a sprinkle of cheese, and guacamole. Oh, and a small spoon of sour cream!
I brought a GREENS nutrition bar with me today and ate 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon. I like this! Never had it before. It tastes like Spirulina and chocolate… in a good way!
I literally took this picture under a table- ha! You can tell… 🙂
For dinner, there was chicken AGAIN. I took a lot of salad (with a sprinkle of ceasar dressing), some chicken in a cream sauce (bleh) with artichoke and sundried tomatoes, green beans, and a scoop of pasta. I ended up not eating any of the pasta and only half of the green beans. I also had a whole wheat role.
I was able to get a workout today which I really needed after sitting from 7 am- 4:30 pm. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes, the treadmill for 10, and stretched.
I feel kind of gross and overstuffed, but dinner is served so early at the conference- 5:30- 6:30 – that I feel like I need to eat enough to not be hungry at 11. Not my favorite schedule- but I know I’ll be back to my routine in a couple of days. Flexibility is really important in life! There was definitely a stage in my life where I hated traveling because I couldn’t control my food choices and exericse- and I never want to be like that again. I want to enjoy the upside of traveling, and do my best to keep it healthy. For example, Philly is really pretty!
Here is a picture of City Hall:
Alright guys, I’m off. A few people want to go to a bar in a little bit and I might join, but will definitely not be drinking much. Tomorrow is another early day!
