I went to write “Good Morning!” and realized it is close to 2- whoops! Good afternoon guys! And Happy Labor Day! Hope you are enjoying the day off.
This morning, I woke up around 8:30 and headed to the gym with Loren. Before we left, we split one of these guys:
I love the Cliff Kids Bars. This was my first time trying the Honey Graham cracker flavor and it was awesome- not too sweet but sweet enough! Loren liked it, too, and he is very picky about his bars!
At the gym, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, a 3 minute cool down walk on the treadmill, and 15- 20 minutes of weights/ strengthening. I really try to take advantage of the time I have on days off to do nice long workouts and get cardio and strength training in. I felt great after the gym, like all of my muscles had been worked!
Soon after I got home and showered, my friend Charlotte came over. Charlotte and I have known each other since we were about 10 or 11 years old… we went to middle and high school together. She just moved back to NYC and I am really excited to have her around this year! We caught up and played with the cats for a while, which was thoroughly amusing (my cats are really fat and lazy so when they try to chase their toys, they do it with minimal effort- but really aggressively. Will have to take a picture for you guys some time.) Then we headed out.
Charlotte wanted to see the neighborhood, so we walked around for a while and got very hungry. We found a cute little diner called Cobble Hill Coffee Shop with a lot of egg dishes on the menu- and decided that’s what we wanted! I had a black tea and fresh OJ to start.
I love fresh orange juice and this stuff was the real deal- lots of pulp and even a few seeds at the bottom! To eat, I got the California Omelet, with mushrooms, avocado, tomato, and feta cheese instead of American. It came with whole wheat bread and hash browns.
For those of you who have never had cooked avocado, I highly recommend it. Loren loves it in omelets and, for a long time, I was very skeptical of trying it. But once I did, I fell in love. Avocado takes on a creamy, rich consistency when cooked and it is great in eggs.
I ate all of the omelet and a piece of toast. I didn’t eat the potatoes- I was too full from the rest. It was an awesome breakfast; the omelet was perfectly cooked and not too greasy- which is what I normally think of when I think “diner food”. I would definitely go back to the Coffee Shop!
Charlotte and I walked for a long time after lunch, jut catching up. I love spending time with old friends- there is nothing like them and you can’t really find them again in this world, can you? Before we said goodbye, Char bought me a nice present- a Coconut Water!
This had peach and mango juice in it as well. I am now perfectly re-hydrated and ready to work!
See you guys later for more good day-off eats!
