So I made it! Its been a looong day and I will do my best to recap all that has happened- though it is 1:30 am NYC time and 10:30 pm Portland time and I am tiiired!
Last night, before our flight, I picked up a turkey and cheese sandwich on multigrain in the airport. I had some fruit later on the plane as well- and lots of water + Airborne and Emergen-C.
This morning we were up bright and early because we had to spend the day helping the bride and groom prepare for the wedding tomorrow!
I had a peach.
And a whole wheat English Muffin with a string cheese.
Then we headed to Kruger’s Farm, a farm on an ISLAND called Sauvie Island. The farm grows flowers, fruits, and vegetables. We needed a bunch of flowers for the decorations and bouquets at the wedding, and this was the place to go. You can pick huge buckets of flowers, including sunflowers, for just $12.50 per bucket.
The farm was amazing! And the flowers were gorgeous. There were so many different kinds- marigolds, sunflowers, and zinneas (and many more!).
Sunflowers are my favorite. We picked a bunch!
Here is Loren’s sister, Rebecca, looking beautiful and happy as ever to be at the farm!
We each clipped away and packed gigantic buckets full of flowers. The bride came as well to help out- it was fun. She is super mellow about the whole thing and just waned us all to pick what we thought were beautiful flowers. So the bouquets will all be different and gorgeous!
Kruger’s also sells a plethora of fruits, veggies, jams, and salad dressings from inside an old barn house.
The jams looked amazing.
As did the salad dressings!
After packing up our buckets, we headed to the bride and groom’s house to start setting up for tomorrow. After a few hours, we all got hungry, a bunch of us went to lunch. We went to Pause, a really cute restaurant in North Portland. It was awesome! The menu was kind of American “homey” food with a healthy twist.
The girls ordered a plate of fries to share.
The fries were amazing. I used self restraint and only had four. It was hard!
And a pickled veggies plate! Yum- this stuff was awesome, especially the cauliflower. It had a spicy kick! I ate lots of these…
For my lunch, I ordered a plate with hummus, roasted veggies, and a salad of greens, feta, olives, and pita triangles.
It rocked. The hummus, which I think was homemade, was creamy and garlicky. I topped the pita with hummus, veggies, and greens and was in heaven! I ate all of the greens and veggies, about half of the hummus, and three pita chips. Yum!
We worked all afternoon and the house looks amazing- ready for a wedding! I can’t wait for the festivities to begin. Tonight, we all just had a casual pizza party. I had 2 small slices of pizza, one without cheese, and some salad. Sorry- its too late and I’m too tired to post pictures!
Tomorrow we have to be back at the bride and groom’s at 8am to help prep all of the food. It is a backyard, homey wedding, so its all about friends and family pitching in. I love that!
I will be back tomorrow with a recap- hope you all enjoy the start to your weekends!
