I’m back in Brooklyn! It’s really nice here today, but I am longing for the laid back vibes of Portland. Loren is still out West on a camping trip with the family and some friends, but I had to come back for work… and get back to work on law school apps… boo! Oh, well, c’est la vie.
Yesterday was a long day of travel. There were no direct flights from Portland to NYC, so I flew from Portland to Dallas, Dallas to NY. My flight left at 10 am West Coast time and got in at 10 pm East Coast time. I was tiiiired when I got home and still am today. I actually slept through my alarm this morning and rushed to work in 30 minutes.
I think I chose some pretty healthy and decent tasting eats along my trip home. In Portland, I grabbed a breakfast-burrito. I asked for no bacon and to have it light on the cheese. One thing I noticed the moment I opened the container was how unnecessarily huge the flour tortilla was. So, I decided to take most of it off because: a) it didn’t do anything for me in terms of taste or flavor and b) it just adds lots of empty, simple carb calories. So I began the surgery…. (yes, everyone sitting around me was looking at me like I was crazy… and that was before I busted out the camera).
But look how much I ended up not using…. And I could still wrap it up just fine!
It was verrrry filling, even without all that tortilla madness. I was full for a good 5 hours.
In Dallas, I had a one hour layover, and picked up a tuna sandwich at Au Bon Pain.
It had a jalapeno mayo, which added a bit of a kick, and it was pretty decent for airport food. I liked the hearty multi grain bread they served it on. I ate one half during the layover, and another on the plane, along with a small red apple and some nuts. It was a day of light eating for me, but I don’t like to feel too heavy and full while flying.
Soon, it was time to land! I don’t love a lot about New York (if you haven’t noticed yet- it’s a too little crazy of a city for me), but one of my favorite things about the city is flying in at night. It is serene and peaceful looking and I feel far removed from all of the stress, the hustle bustle, and the madness. It is a beautiful sight.
And some more abstract ones I took with a long exposure…
And then we landed… back to the madness.
In my rush this morning to get to work, I just grabbed one of these:
Egg, tomato, avocado, and cheese on a multi grain role.
Now I’m back at it. See you all later!
