Happy Friday, everyone!
Unfortunately, I have a ton of law school application work to do this weekend… and for the next few weeks/ weekends to come, so I don’t just get to relax and have fun all weekend. That being said, I am trying to plan a few fun things with friends/ family, so that I have those things to look forward to, but am leaving most of my days free to work.
I don’t know about you guys, but I work best within a strict schedule, where I give myself specific times to work and short breaks to have fun. I also work much better when surrounded by others- at coffee shops or libraries than I do alone at home. When I am alone, I can spend hours internet browsing/ blog reading and avoid getting to work. Filling out 12- 14 law school applications (I know, I’m crazy) will be (and has been) a marathon, not a sprint, and I need to keep myself healthy and happy in the process, which brings me to this morning’s activities/ food….
I dragged myself out of bed even though I just wanted to sleeeeeep and went to the gym, where I did 5 minutes warm up on the bike, 30 minutes on the elliptical, and 5 minutes cool down walk on the treadmill. My muscles were really sore from the strengthening/ weights circuit I did yesterday, so I just stretched for a long time on the mats- no lifting today. I recently read an interesting article, actually, in Women’s Health, about how our muscles need rest days when we are trying to build and tone them, because the muscle tissue and fibers need time to recover. Very good to know!
On the way home, I picked up a few much needed groceries to make a simple breakfast. I made a bowl of pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, giant blackberries, and some Bar Naked fruit & nut granola, all atop some Friendship Pineapple Cottage Cheese.
Cottage cheese + granola and fruit is one of my favorite food combinations. If you haven’t noticed, I am not a huge lover of oats or yogurt, like many food bloggers out there. I don’t know why, but those things just don’t sit well with me. I feel heavy and have trouble digesting all day. But cottage cheese works well for me!
Yes, it was as good as it looks. 😉
I am now ready to tackle everything on my plate…. I hope!
Enjoy your day, guys!
