Today I’ve enjoyed lots of the goodies that we picked up at the farmer’s market this weekend. It’s so nice to eat food and have a sense of where it came from! I always take the time at farmers markets to speak with the farmers about their practices, etc., so I know what I am eating and can remember who made it. So rare in this day and age!
After a great workout at the gym (15 minutes on a full body cross trainer, 15 minutes steep walk on treadmill, 15 minutes strength/ stretch), I made an awesome and filling breakfast of exactly what I was craving: cottage cheese, granola, and sliced peach and banana. I also picked up some fresh squeezed OJ from Trader Joe’s as a special treat!
These peaches are ripe and juicy. I’m so glad I grabbed a bunch this weekend… Loren didn’t think we would eat them all, but we’re almost through with them! (Lesson to be learned: I’m always right 😉 )
The combo of Bare Naked Fruit + Nut granola and cottage cheese is fantastic.
Breakfast kept me full for a solid four hours… I didn’t need a morning snack at all. Lunch was leftover beans and couscous from last night. I mixed a light baby bell cheese in there when I reheated it, so it was extra yummy!
Plus some gorgeous fresh veggies from the market- assorted carrots, REAL baby carrots :), and an Israeli Cucumber.
A little too much balsamic came out of the bottle! These veggies were so yummy. I loved the different kinds of carrots- I’d never had white, light orange or yellow ones, and they each had a distinct, wonderful flavor. I’ve also only had bagged baby carrots from the store, and I was amazed to see the cute little guys at the market.
For those of you who haven’t tried them, go buy some Israeli Cucumbers. They are awesome- so much more flavorful (almost sweet) than their large cousins. And they are the size of a pickle, so you don’t need to prep or cut them. 🙂
Alright guys, back to work. Happy Monday!
