Good morning, guys! I’m so happy it’s Saturday! I need some R & R time!
We started the weekend out on a really fun note last night. But first, I’ll do a quick recap of the afternoon’s eats at work. Nothing too exciting…
Some reheated black beans, grilled peppers, and brown rice from Thursday night with a quarter of an avocado mixed in. Topped with hot sauce, of course.
I had an apple with a little bit of the most amazing cheese- the last of it!
On our way out the door last night, I had a KidZ bar…
And then the fun started!
At a Mets game! Loren’s boss has season tickets and the most amazing seats. He couldn’t go this weekend and gave Loren 4 tickets to last night’s game, so we took our friends, Anna and Chris. I’m not a huge sports person, but I like going to games every once in a while… and who wouldn’t love this view?
Plus, Citi-Field has THE BEST food, including, one of my all-time favorite NY restaurants, Shake Shack. Shake Shack has three locations in NYC (including Citi-field) and is owned my, in my opinion, the smartest restaurantuer in NYC. The burgers are, hands-down, the best I’ve ever had.
We were all so excited for burgers that we waited about 30 minutes in line. I got the signature Shack Burger: hamburger, American cheese, “shack sauce”, lettuce, tomato- all on a potato bun.
These burgers really are perfection. Everything at Shake Shack, from the lettuce to the beef, is as local and naturally grown as possible. And you can taste the freshness of it all!
Plus, the combination of the cheese, the “shack sauce”, the moist patty, and the potato-bun are out-of-this world. I wonder how many combinations they tried before they came up with perfection…
Loren ordered fries with his burger, and, I’m not gonna lie, I had about half of them. They were too good for me to pass up ;).
Sometimes, you just gotta go big!
I had a glass of red wine with dinner. I needed it after a looong week!
I just sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed our view!
Anna bought a bag of cracker jacks for the group to share for dessert.
I had a couple of bites, but was pretty satisfied by this point, so I didn’t eat much of it. But I did have fun playing with the little game that was inside!
This morning, I made a batch of oats for breakfast to show Loren my new oat-making skills! I added some grilled apple to this batch. It was awesome!
Tasted like apple-peanut butter pie.
I don’t feel guilty AT ALL for eating “unhealthy” foods last night. I feel great! I just think its important to indulge every once in a while, and get right back into clean, healthy eating the next day. It is all about balance for me. I could never live on oats, steamed fish, and cottage cheese, though I try to eat plenty of those things as well!
I think we might take a post-breakie walk just to get out and get moving. Then, I will sit down to tackle some more work. Hope your weekend is off to a great start!
