So, seeing the Dalai Lama today was exactly what I needed to get my head in the right place. He spoke a lot about emptiness, and how things are always changing. This helped me to see that things will change, just as they did before; I will feel better and life will go on. When things are hard, it is important to remember it won’t be forever. Same goes for the good times. They won’t always last, so we have to enjoy the happy moments that we have!
He also spoke a lot about compassion and realizing we are all connected. I think that the best thing you can do for yourself when you are feeling down or sick is to think of all of the people out there who have it much worse, and send a prayer out to them- or do something good for someone else. That will make you feel blessed and will make you feel better!
After the talk, I went out to Linner (lunch+ dinner) with my parents, Loren, and 2 friends who came to the talk. I was REALLY hungry because I couldn’t eat the KidZ bar I had brought for a snack during the talk. It was confiscated! I got to eat half before they took it away from me- I stuffed it all in my mouth at once!
So, LINNER in one word: Yummy! I had a Portobello ‘Shroom on foccacia bread with grilled onion, tomato marmalade, cheese, and avocado. It was served with fries but I did not have the chance to eat any! My parents dug into them and before I knew it, they were gone! But the sandwich was filling enough and I felt very happy and satisfied.
I didn’t have my camera with me because I couldn’t bring it into the talk, but I did have my trusty camera phone. Here are some action shots:
Mom and Dad digging in…
Then just Dad :).
The sandwich hit the spot- it was exactly what I was craving!
After eating, I was actually feeling muuuch better, so I took the opportunity to walk- a lot. We must have walked for more than an hour. Sunday evenings are always very calm and peaceful in the city- most people are home and resting. It is my favorite time to walk; the streets are empty and everything is winding down.
I feel so great after moving around so much- and spending the day with special people and being in the presence of such an incredibly inspirational human being. Goodnight!
