Hey guys,
Sorry its been a few days since I’ve posted. To be honest, I have been feeling pretty down/ apathetic about things (seasonal depression, anyone?). Anyways, I am finally feeling more like myself today- and up to posting! But I have a lot of eats to catch up on:
Wednesday breakfast: 1 egg, 1 egg white scrambled with spinach and feta, rolled up in a wrap. Topped with lots of salsa!
Wednesday lunch: Amy’s burrito and lots of snacks…
Wednesday’s “Lazy Kat dinner”: big salad, turkey hot dogs on a slice of Ezekial.
With some excellent McClure’s relish!
And a TJ’s mini ice cream cookie sandwich for dessert.
Thursday: breakfast on the go- a glass of Emergen-C, a banana, chocolate PURE bar.
Thursday lunch (unpictured) at work- turkey and cheese sammie on whole wheat bread, sliced pineapple.
Thursday dinner: “REALLY Lazy Kat dinner”: 2 chopped turkey hot dogs, leftover Angel Hair and Squash Pasta with Marinara Sauce, sliced veggies and humus.
When I was little, chopped hot dog and macaroni was my favorite meal in the world. Maybe this is why I am feeling better today? Comfort food does wonders for me!
Question: What do you do to avoid feeling down during the winter? Any tips? I am from South Florida, so I spent my entire life until the age of 18 outside every day- swimming, walking, running, staying active. Winter and I just don’t mix. But I live in NYC for now, so I need to do my best to stay happy. I have tried bundling up and taking more walks outside, even when it is freezing. I have also been forcing myself to keep exercising a bit every day so the endorphins keep pumping through my body. I have also given into way too many hot chocolates over the last few days (albeit skim) to boost my mood. What do you do?
I hope you all staying cozy and happy wherever you are!
A good workout, a hot shower with flower scented shower gel and then I take an extra few minutes to do my hair and make up… and dress up a bit more.. somehow it brightens up my mood.
I take Vitamin D and that really helps a lot, wearing a cute sweater and working out area also great!
Tea and lots of it!
The winter blues are the worst :(. I hate getting home when it’s dark out… I never want to go back out to the gym but it does make the biggest difference. Like you said, the endorphins! Some “aromatherapy” scents might help.. a tropical candle or something to remind you of home! I hope you are back to yourself soon!

wow, fora lazy dinner that looks great to me – I usually would just open up a can of soup 🙂
Lighting a “wintery” seasonal candle always makes me smile during the colder season (even though VA doesn’t get nearly as cold as NYC, props to you girl!), I just adore the smell of cinnamon or gingerbread laced throughout the house… Makes it feel so cozy and warm… then the cold doesn’t seem so bad after all 🙂
it’s cold in l.a. too and i’m getting the winter blues now. i think making plans to get outa the house at least once or twice a day is important. luckily you live in nyc where the world is right outside your doorstep!
With out a doubt the only way I beat the winter blues here in Cleveland is by still running outside. It has to be 20 below zero before I hit the treadmill. If I get out a few times a week and get my miles in it really perks me up. I also like to go snowshoeing. Not feeling trapped in the house is key.
I feel down sometimes in the winter too … I try to get out and see friends as much as possible!
Getting outside and in the sun (or even under the clouds) first thing in the morning is supposed to be the best rx for seasonal depression. Even a 10 min walk first thing in the am unless it is raining is HUGE.
My bro lives in Harlem and when I talked to him he said it was miserable there. I feel for ya.
I think that everyone who lives in a place where there’s “real” winter feels like this as well. I try to focus even more on the positive things in life and all the good stuff that I enjoy. I tend to set one “highlight” for the day even if it’s only groceries shopping (I love groceries shopping though ;)).
Even your lazy eats are impressive. All I manage to do on lazy days is some pasta with pesto sauce…
take care 🙂
I dedicated a post to this subject. I hope it helps you. & Your cheap eats look delicious!
